LEGAL ADVICE
 


The FIA aims to offer its members legal and technical advice on a range of subjects which can include: 

  • processes involving the Office of the FAIS Ombud;
  • complaints resolution in terms of the FAIS Act;
  • actions brought by the FSB in terms of applicable legislation;
  • remedial actions brought in terms of the LOA Codes of Conduct;
  • disputes involving the various other Ombudsmen Offices;
  • dispute resolution involving insurers;
  • other legal matters within the ambit of the insurance industry.

The FIA and its functionaries are not in a position to render personal legal assistance to its members, but will endeavor to refer the member to the best possible advisor or legal resources. This service does not include monetary assistance, although the FIA will, where possible, negotiate a reasonable fee with the provider of the service through its collective bargaining powers.
